Recorded with my Zoom H2.
These are the unboxing pictures I took of my LX2 when I first received it a few weeks ago. Better late than never, I suppose.

Nice box – this is a departure from normal Surefire plastic packaging.

And serial# X00898 is all mine! Notice the six US patents… this is seriously some high-tech stuff here, hahah.

Finally, a profile shot.
Just got my new Surefire LX2 today to rotate out my Surefire A2 from general usage. The LX2 just entered the market this past week. The A2 is a good light, but technology has gotten better since then, and the LX2 should prove to be a better performer.
The LX2 hasn’t sold me on its durability yet – it’ll have to endure some retreats and hikes (resistance to water, snow, mud and such things) before it convinces me that it’s dependable… haha. Not that there’s any reason to doubt that it can’t live up to its (and its predecessors’) claims of reliability…
Surefire’s transition from knurling to flutes as a way to increase grippiness is interesting too. Let’s see if it will work better than the knurling they’ve put on (almost) every model that’s come before.
Pics when I get home, perhaps.
I’ve been hiking Mission Peak on the last few weekends… it’s awesome.

The altitude reading is probably a bit off (didn’tset the current altitude at the beginning of the hike), but cool nonetheless:

When I get caught in a dark room without having a flashlight, or if the situation is brief enough that it doesn’t justify using a flashlight to find my way out of a room, I can hit the illuminator button on my G-Shocks, and the few seconds of dim light are enough for me to figure out where to go next.
Of course, this only works in pitch-black rooms. For anything which needs more light, out comes the Surefire A2…
(or, what I’ve been wearing the last few days)
